There are no noisy crowds or demanding deadlines here - just the simple pleasures of immersing yourself with nature.

You are welcome to be as active or as relaxed as you like here at Paradise … This is quite simply your retreat, so enjoy!

Walks & Hikes

 Paradise has a variety of gentle short walks or more strenuous options…the choice is yours. And for people who are less mobile, there is a golf buggy available upon request.  Given the fact that Paradise is nestled between Fiordland and Aspiring National Park there are walking tracks galore in this area and what better place to base yourself than a place called Paradise!

Diamond Lake

A short stroll from the Homestead lies the sensational Diamond Lake. It's perfect for kayaking, swimming, fishing, in fact almost all water activities. If you're not feeling all that active, why not just soak up the rays from the lake shore?

Trout Fishing

There is great trout fishing all year round here at Paradise with the size of brown trout in Diamond Lake being nothing short of impressive. With the Dart and Rees River also at our doorstep this really is a fishermans paradise! You can purchase a license online at

Historic Exploration

  • Paradise Scheelite mine

Paradise and the surrounding Glenorchy district is an area rich in history. First explored by Maori in search of pounamu and then followed in their footsteps by early European explorers in search of gold. On Paradise alone there is the historic homestead, remains of the Paradise Scheelite mine and even our small collection of old farming tractors that are often admired as part of New Zealand's farming history.

With native beech forest, wetlands and open country all at your back door, Paradise really is a bird lovers dream. The native bird song heard here each morning brings people back to Paradise time and time again...

In recent decades Paradise has been the location for various film-makers, with the likes of movies such as, Lord of Rings, The Hobbit, Wolverine, The Lovely Bones & Narnia all taking advantage of the magnificent surroundings that Paradise has to offer. This stunning scenery has also been used in various TV commercials . The most recent film shoot that took place was for Taylor Swifts music video "Out Of The Woods".  

Cycling Tours

Revolution Cycle Tours

Run a fully guided and supported luxury cycle tour around Queenstown’s Lake Wakatipu through parts of Mt Aspiring and Fiordland National Park and across the areas high country stations.
(Riding through water is optional)

Frisbee Golf Tournament

The 13th Annual Dart River Jet Safaris Paradise Plates Disc (Frisbee) Golf Tournament will be held at the Paradise Trust property, beyond Glenorchy on Sunday 13th March, 2011. There is an 18 hole Doubles Tournament there on the Sunday morning, followed by an 18 hole Singles Tournament in the afternoon.

Gather at the Garden of Eden at 9.30, for a 10 am start for the Doubles.

The Singles starts around 2pm. There will be 5 divisions.
